The International School of Düsseldorf is specialised in providing its students with the best possible programme of academic and personal development in a challenging and supportive environment.
The large majority of its students come from all over the world and stay in the Düsseldorf region for a few years before moving on.
Established in 1968, the International School of Düsseldorf is a not for profit, co-educational day school serving the needs of students from over 50 countries.
A rigorous academic programme is complemented by an extensive counselling and pastoral care programme, as well as English as an Additional Language, Learning Support and on-site medical facilities.
An emphasis on contemporary teaching facilities is underpinned by an extensive professional development programme for faculty and staff, small classes and a creative, enthusiastic and committed faculty. Together, faculty, staff, students and parents form a learning community with a clear commitment to continuous improvement.
A strong development programme includes extensive community and worldwide representation. Students experience community service both locally and at projects in Africa, Europe and Asia.
The sixteen-acre campus is situated a short walk from the Rhine, in the beautiful, historic suburb of Kaiserswerth. School buildings are spacious, modern and well-equipped. Centres of Excellence for Information and Design Technology as well as for the Visual and the Performing Arts support the different technology and art programmes. Almost all classrooms are equipped with interactive whiteboards.
Two gymnasiums and three football fields support a comprehensive physical education and competitive sports programme. School teams compete regularly in local and international competitions. Adult teams of faculty and parents compete in local soccer, basketball and volleyball competitions.
